Y.E.S. The Arc began in 1974 as a school for mentally disabled children. It expanded into serving adults with developmental disabilities in 1975 and in 1981 the children’s program became a part of the public school system.
Y.E.S. The Arc values the development and fostering of personal relationships with family and friends, along with individual and family initiative in making choices and expressing consumer preferences.
Y.E.S. The Arc offers programs and services that support and enhance consumer independence, self-esteem, mutual respect, value and dignity. Opportunities, programs and services are designed and developed in partnership with consumers, family members, fiduciaries and community members.
These programs and services are provided through comprehensive residential settings and community-based systems that recognizes and supports cultural diversity.
